Initial Consultation & Conceptualization

Lumen Productions begins by understanding the client’s needs, the type of event, and the desired atmosphere. They work closely with designers to conceptualize the lighting design, ensuring it aligns with the overall creative vision. This step includes discussing colour schemes, themes, the style of the performance or event, and specific lighting requirements.

Designing the Lighting

Lumen Productions uses sophisticated design software such as Vectorworks, WYSIWYG, and Capture to create detailed lighting designs. These tools help them visualize how the lights will interact with the environment, including the positioning, angles, intensity, and colour of each fixture. The designs take into account the venue's size, layout, and any specific challenges that may affect light placement and effectiveness.

We select from a variety of lighting fixtures such as LED fixtures, moving heads, spotlights, strobes, and more, depending on the event's needs. Lumen focuses on creating a balance between aesthetic appeal and functional lighting.

Rigging Plot Creation

A crucial part of the lighting design process is the rigging plot, which outlines how the lighting equipment will be installed and supported in the venue. We will then prepare a detailed rigging plot that shows the location of each light fixture, the height at which it will be hung, the mounting hardware, and the necessary cable routes. This plot ensures that all lighting fixtures are properly secured, aligned, and positioned for optimal performance.

The rigging plot will also take into consideration factors like weight loads, safety regulations, and any unique venue constraints, such as the size or structure of the space.
